Perth City Centre Management
City Centre Management is now considered essential to protect
and improve the vitality and viability of town and city centres in
the UK. In Scotland, many towns and cities have city centre
management in place to provide an essential focus for identifying
the needs of the city centre and driving initiatives forward.
The importance and value of city centres as places where people
meet, work, shop, do business and enjoy leisure is now one of the
major issues being addressed by government and local authorities.
Competition from out-of-town centres and traffic congestion has,
amongst other things, gradually eroded the quality of life and
economic viability of many city centres. These issues are currently
being addressed by the Scottish Government, which is supporting the
regeneration of our cities and towns through planning guidelines
and Business Improvement Districts.
Perth City Centre Management is a member of the Association of
Town Centre Management (ATCM) which is a body of public sector
professionals and private sector business people dedicated to
promoting the concept and assisting in the implementation of town
centre management..
