Food Standards inspections are part of the system for ensuring that food meets the requirements of food standards law, including proper presentation, labelling and advertising so as not to confuse or mislead , compliance with compositional standards and the absence of non-permitted or excessive levels of additives, contaminants and residues.
Food Sampling programmes are used to check the chemical and microbiological standards of food sold in the Perth and Kinross area to ensure food is fit for consumption and meets all consumer protection standards.
Complaints about food or complaints about food businesses are investigated to ensure that food safety and food standards are not being compromised by poor operating standards or lack of appropriate management controls in food businesses.
