Construction Safety
Over 2 million people work in construction in the UK, making it the
country's largest industry. It is also one of the most
dangerous. In the last 25 years, over 2,800 people have died from
injuries they received as a result of their involvement in
construction work with many more having suffered disabling injuries
and ill-health.
If you are having construction or refurbishment work done, you may
need to notify the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and you may
have other duties as well. For instance the work may require
Building or Planning approval or both, so please contact the
local office of the Council.
