Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous
Occurrences 1995 (RIDDOR)
If you are an employer, a self employed person
or someone in control of work premises you will have
duties under RIDDOR.
Reporting accidents and ill health at work is a legal requirement.
This information enables the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and
local authorities to identify where and how risks arise and to
investigate serious accidents.
You must report;

A death
- Major injury - For example, A fracture other than to fingers
thumbs or toes. amputation, dislocation of the shoulder, hip knee
or spine, loss of sight etc.
- An over 3 day injury - Where an employee or self employed
person is away from work or unable to work normally for
more than 3 consecutive days. (As from 6 April
2012 this will change to 7 days) A record of all 3
day injuries must still be kept.
- Injuries to members of the public or people not at work - where
they are taken from the scene of an accident to
hospital.
- A work related disease
- A dangerous occurrence
