What the legislation does

The Package Travel, Package Holiday and Package Tour Regulations 1992 implement the EC Directive on package tours, travel and holidays in UK law.
The Regulations cover aspects of the package holiday business, such as advertising, brochures, contracts, pricing, surcharge limitations and compensation responsibilities.
There is also a requirement that the organiser of package holidays must be able to provide evidence of the arrangements made to secure money in order to refund customers should they be unable to complete the contract.
Detailed advice is available from the DTi or TS Central

Enforcement

Requirement to investigate security for insolvency arrangements of local package holiday providers. Additional need to check repatriation arrangements where package destination is outwith UK.
