About Community Campuses
Last updated | 30/09/2011
At the heart of each campus is a new state-of-the-art school or
schools providing education for 4550 nursery, primary and secondary
pupils, more than 25% of all school children throughout Perth and
Kinross.
Importantly, the community campuses also provide a wide range of
other facilities for wider community use. Each community campus
offers a different range of community facilities in addition to the
schools. Details of all the services offered are included on each
of the individual campus pages.
New public libraries within the campuses at Loch Leven in
Kinross, North Inch in Perth, Breadalbane in Aberfeldy and
Strathearn in Crieff provide a wide variety of reading material and
free internet access.
The range of other facilities include all weather sports
pitches, music, dance and drama studios, gymnasium, meeting spaces
including conference facilities – with equipment and catering
available.
Perth & Kinross Council’s aims for the new campuses
are to:
- Improve the learning and teaching environment to raise the
achievement and attainment of children and young people, helping
them reach their fullest potential;
- Deliver high-quality, flexible facilities to meet the needs of
local communities and maximise opportunities to access lifelong
learning, sports and leisure and cultural activities;
- Provide enhanced support on-site for children and young people
with additional support needs, and their families.
A Campus Leader heads a management team to ensure effective
delivery of all services at the four hub campuses of
Loch Leven,
Strathearn,
North Inch and
Breadalbane.
