Money, tax and benefits

General advice

• Welfare rights - offers a free, confidential and impartial welfare rights service to the residents of Perth & Kinross, including;

                - Advice and information on all state benefits, tax credits, housing
                issues, money and debt advice and employment rights.
                - Representation at benefit appeal tribunals.
                - Income maximisation.
                - Training.

            We also offer an enhanced benefit advice service with help filling forms
            for people affected by cancer as well as long term conditions, and their
            families, in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support.

• Citizens Advice Bureau provides access to information and independent advice on your rights including benefits, housing and employment, and on debt, consumer and legal issues.

Debt

• National Debtline offers free, confidential and independent help over the phone for people in Scotland. You can call their helpline and also download publications from their website.
  
  
• DirectGov - Managing Debt - You can find general advice on debt management including advice on what to do, who to contact and who can help you if you are having difficulties paying your bills.

Benefits

• Housing and Council Tax Benefit - get help with paying your rent and / or council tax.
   
• Direct Gov - Benefits and financial support - find out what benefits are available, if you qualify and changes that can affect your benefit.

Tax credit / child benefit

• Direct Gov - Tax credits and child benefit - If you're aged 25 or over, work at least 30 hours a week and are on a low income, you could get Working Tax Credit.
