General advice

  • Welfare rights - offers a free, confidential and impartial welfare rights service to the residents of Perth & Kinross, including;

                - Advice and information on all state benefits, tax credits, housing
                issues, money and debt advice and employment rights.
                - Representation at benefit appeal tribunals.
                - Income maximisation.
                - Training.

            We also offer an enhanced benefit advice service with help filling forms
            for people affected by cancer as well as long term conditions, and their
            families, in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support.

            Initial contact to the team should be made via email at
            welfarerights@pkc.gov.uk or through the Welfare Rights Advice Line on
            01738 476900.

  • Citizens Advice Bureau provides access to information and independent advice on your rights including benefits, housing and employment, and on debt, consumer and legal issues.

    You can also make an appointment at your local CAB

  • National Debtline offers free, confidential and independent help over the phone for people in Scotland. You can call their helpline and also download publications from their website.

  • DirectGov - Managing Debt - You can find general advice on debt management including advice on what to do, who to contact and who can help you if you are having difficulties paying your bills.
