Macmillan Tayside Welfare Benefits Partnership

Macmillan Cancer Support have provided funding for this new service
which offers free confidential advice to people affected by cancer
and certain life limiting long term conditions (Parkinson's
disease, multiple sclerosis, dementia, stroke, motor neurone
disease, Huntington's disease, severe and enduring mental health
problems).
The Partnership consists of Angus, Dundee and Perth and Kinross
Councils, The Pension Service, Macmillan Cancer Support and NHS
Tayside.
When someone close to you has been diagnosed with cancer or has
a life limiting long term medical condition they may not
immediately think about how this is going to affect them
financially. If people are struggling to cope with the financial
impact of cancer or a long term medical condition, help is
available.
A Macmillan Tayside Welfare Rights Adviser can help:
- apply for social security benefits and tax credits,
- appeal against benefit decisions,
- cope with debt or financial problems,
- negotiate with creditors,
- access charitable grants,
- secure help with fuel costs and travel to/from hospital,
- signpost to other agencies.
This service is available throughout Tayside. We aim to make our
service easy to access and to be guided by the service user as to
how they do this. We offer a home visiting service for people
who are not well enough to come to an appointment at our office or
to one of our Outreach Clinics. We currently have outreach clinics
in the Macmillan Day Care facilities in Perth, Dundee and Angus and
Roxburghe House.
