Reporting Anti-Social Behaviour
Anti-Social Behaviour
What points are useful to consider before making an allegation of Anti-Social Behaviour?
These include any steps that have been made already to resolve the problem, like speaking to those who are causing concern, and any other immediate steps which might resolve the matter.
Minor disputes between neighbours may often become more serious because there's a shared reluctance to talk about the problems.
Assistance with this can be requested from Perth & Kinross Community Mediation Service, which acts independently and helps people to resolve neighbour problems.
How do I contact Perth & Kinross Community Mediation?
Perth & Kinross Council, Registered Social Landlords (RSLs), or the Police can make first contact for you or, if you prefer, you can get in touch with them yourself by calling 01738 445753.
Can anyone ask for help if they feel they are being subjected to Anti-Social Behaviour?
Yes. Tenants of Perth & Kinross Council, Housing Associations, private landlords or owner-occupiers - anyone living locally or just visiting - can ask for assistance if they feel they have been the victim of any kind of Anti-Social Behaviour.
What should be done to get assistance?
If it's felt that the Anti-Social Behaviour is serious and safety is at risk the Police should be contacted, without delay. They will provide immediate assistance and advice. Alternatively, Council tenants can contact their local area office. Housing Association or Co-operative tenants should also make direct contact with their landlord.
Similarly, a tenant of a private landlord can make direct contact with Perth & Kinross Council's Anti-Social Investigations Team by calling 01738 476173.
Owner-occupiers looking for advice or help may choose to speak to the Citizens' Advice Bureau, to a solicitor, or to the Anti-Social Investigations Team.
What information will be required?
It is important to explain as clearly as possible what is or has been happening and who is, or has been involved. It is particularly helpful if witness names and contact details are available as well as any notes, diaries and any other evidence - like photographs - which will help the investigations.
