About us
Perth & Kinross Sports Council is concerned with the successful development of sport in the local area.
AIMS
Our aims include:
- To promote interest and participation in sport throughout Perth & Kinross.
- To work closely with affiliated clubs/associations and to assist them in planning for the future development of their sport.
- To ensure optimum use of sports facilities throughout the district.
- To recommend to Perth and Kinross Council on suitability of more substantial grant aid.
HOW CAN WE HELP? IT?S AS EASY AS A B C!
A GRANT AID
Grants are given to affiliated clubs/associations to allow them to:
- Increase participation
- Improve performance
- Improve coaching / officiating and volunteering standards
B DEVELOPMENT
The sports Council can help to increase participation in sport in a number of ways including:
- Developing existing sports
- Introducing new sports
- Organising promotional events
- Supporting the work and development of coaches,officials and volunteers
C SERVICES
We also offer affiliated clubs / associations a number of valuable services including:
- Hire of Equipment
- Up to date information on local clubs, organisations,activities and facilities
- Advice on alternative sources of Grant Aid
- Guidance on all aspects of running a sports club including information about workshops and development materials
- Access to the Sports Council Insurance Scheme (NB Affiliated membership only affords access to insurance services. This form of membership does not allow access to any other services of benefits from the Sports Council.)
SPORT FOR PEOPLE WITH A DISABILITY
We also work closely with Perth & Kinross Disability Sport which is an independent charitable organisation promoting the aspirations of local sportspeople with disabilities.
They develop and support sports participation in a number of ways:
- Sport awareness days
- Participation and coaching opportunities
- Competitions and events for sportspeople with disabilities
- Host Scottish Disability Sport competitive events
CLUB KITEMARK SCHEME
We are currently pursuing the development of a Club Kitemark Scheme which will ensure targeted support for clubs and increases in the quality of provision to sports people throughout Perth and Kinross.
AFFILIATION
Both Clubs and Individuals can affiliate to Perth & Kinross Sports Council. Please see the affiliation form on the right for more information.
