Grants Assistance
Perth & Kinross Council in partnership with Perth & Kinross Sports Council operate a number of grant aid schemes to support and assist community based voluntary sports organizations, clubs, groups and individuals to encourage participation in sport and recreation activities.
Perth & Kinross Leisure provide Scholarship Passes to athletes in all sports who are competing at a national level as part of a nationally recognised squad. These allow free access to Perth & Kinross Leisure facilities across Perthshire.
The various types of grants available for Perthshire clubs and residents are listed below. Application Forms can be found in the "Download" area on the right.
Who can apply?
- affiliated clubs/organisations and individual members of Perth & Kinross Sports Council
- individuals must be members of the national team/squad of their chosen sport
- clubs/organisations based in Perth & Kinross
- individuals have to reside within Perth & Kinross (as their normal place of residence - not their accommodating address)
- sport must be recognized by sportScotland
Guidelines / Conditions (General)
- Each grant application will be considered individually, the awarding of a grant should not be assumed.
- Applications for grants will not be considered unless they are submitted prior to the purchase of equipment / start of project.
- Grants will not be paid retrospectively.
- Successful applicants will only be awarded a grant once in any twelve month period.
- A report on the course/event/initiative for which the grant was made should be submitted along with photos (where appropriate - these may be used in our newsletter).
Guidelines / Conditions (Clubs)
- The Sports Council must be satisfied that the applicant has exhausted all other alternative sources so that no duplication of aid is provided.
- All clubs must provide with their application:
- A copy of their Accounts and Balance Sheet for the preceding two financial years (except for Starter Grants).
- A statement certified by the Treasurer, of the total resources of the applicants at the date of application.
- A copy of their rules and regulations.
- In line with the Council policy, those clubs that operate from licensed bar facilities will not be eligible for a grant.
How to apply?
- Identify from the scheme which grant you wish to apply for.
- Contact the Sports Council Administrator to receive the appropriate application forms or download these from the download section to the right.
- Complete all relevant sections and return, ensuring you have enclosed all information identified on the form. Failure to complete relevant sections of the form and/or enclose requested information will result in delays and possibly a failed application.
- Following ratification of the grant award recommendations by the Executive Committee applicants will be informed in writing of the decision and any provisional award. (Check links on the right hand side for 2008's meeting dates of the Sports Council.)
Types of Grants
Personal Development Grant
This grant is for individuals who are members of an affiliated club or who have affiliated as an individual to the Sports Council for assistance with Training and/or Competition costs.
Individuals will have to be part of National Team/Squad.
PDG applications can be awarded as follows - up to £300 for junior sports person (under 18 years of age or in full-time education / unemployed) and up to £200 for sports persons outwith these categories.
Club Grant (starter)
Grants of up to £200 (in a phased structure over 2 years => 60% awarded in the first year and 40% in the second year) are awarded to enable new clubs and sporting organisations (operating for 6 month or less) to become viable units.
Criteria:
- The Club must remain in operation and be affiliated by Perth and Kinross Sports Council.
- The Club must show evidence of its meeting objectives set out in its constitution.
- The Club must provide a balance sheet with projected income and expenditure.
Club Grant (equipment)
Eligible for equipment which a club would not be expected to provide for its normal activities and which has coaching or player improvement significance. Up to £400 will be awarded.
Criteria:
- A receipt of purchase must be produced within two month of receiving a grant.
- If equipment is abused or not used within the applicant's declared purposes or in the event that the applicant is ceasing, the equipment shall revert to the Sports Council.
- Two proper quotations for new equipment need to be produced.
Club Grant (Development)
For projects undertaken by affiliated clubs to increase participation or their standards. A maximum of £ 400 will be rewarded.
Criteria:
- The submission of a development plan/proposal showing evidence of it's meeting the club?s objectives (as found in the constitution).
- Only one grant per year can be awarded.
- A written report needs to be produced on the event.
Club Grant (Coach education)
Eligible for coaches who want to gain nationally recognized coach / instructor qualifications in order to improve the quality of coaching at their club. The maximum amount per coach per year is £300 and £500 per club / year. The maximum grant for any one course is £250. Subject to these restrictions, a coach may apply for several grants in any one year, or may submit one application for multiple courses.
Criteria:
- Refresher and NCF courses will not be considered (unless classified as mandatory by National Governing Body). Evidence of this will be required.
- List of attendees, dates and venue must be included in application.
- Evidence of completion of the course must be produced (photocopies are acceptable).
- Some kind of 'impact' evidence must be produced (i.e. trickle down, new sessions etc).
- Grants may be awarded for travel, attendance fees, tuition and subsistence up to a maximum of 50% of costs. Grants will not be awarded for personal equipment or examination fees.
Scholarship Pass
Allows sporting people of all ages who currently competing at national/international level to gain free access to all or their chosen PKL Sports facilities to assist with their training needs.
Gannochy Trust Development Fund Sports
Support for sports specific development plan or schemes/initiatives that form a central part of these plans, submitted by a representative sports specific development group (all members must be affiliated to Perth & Kinross Sports Council).
The maximum grant available will be for £1,000. Reapplication will not be possible for twelve months following the award date.
Criteria:
- Development Groups must provide with their application, evidence that they are bona-fide groups of affiliated clubs who have already come together to develop their sport district wide, have an inclusive membership, be representative of that sport locally and have a Constitution that reflects this.
- Development Groups must have at the very least a draft development plan in place and this must be included with the application and should show evidence of being linked to other existing plans (Sport and Recreation Strategy, Sport 21, NGB development plans, etc).
