Disability Sport

Disability Sport is a key focus for the Sports Development Team and provides sports opportunities for children with physical, sensory and learning disabilities in the Perth and Kinross area.

The Sports Development Officer for Disability Sport also acts as Chairperson for Perth & Kinross Disability Sport, the local branch of Scottish Disability Sport. The aims of the branch include co-ordinating, developing and promoting sports/physical activity amongst people with a disability and to strengthen and extend the network of contacts/Clubs in the Perth and Kinross area.

The three priority Disability Sports for Perth and Kinross are Football, Athletics and Boccia but other sports are also supported, for example, swimming.

Throughout the year, various Disability Sport activities are organised and include school holiday programmes, one-off taster sessions, inter-school events and after school clubs.

Various local events throughout the year also lead into regional and national events, allowing successful athletes to realise their full potential.
