Outdoor Education
Outdoor activities provide direct, emotional experiences that can
be the basis for significant learning and change. This includes
opportunities to increase self reliance and build self esteem
whether working as an individual or in a team building environment.
Our experienced and qualified staff provide high quality sessions
which can be tailor made for specific groups. Whatever the aim
these well structured and fun sessions are designed to promote
learning and development. Working with schools our programmes are
designed to meet the outcomes identified through Curriculum for
Excellence integrating health, literacy, numeracy and skills for
learning, life and work.
The team provides health and safety advice in relation to
excursions, venues and risk assessments. They are also able to lend
or develop equipment and resources for outdoor education. As part
of the Council's Sports Development Team the Outdoor Education
staff are more than happy to offer specific assistance to develop
outdoor activity clubs or groups. To find out more about what's on
offer contact the Outdoor Education Officer (details on
the right).
