Sports Council Introduction

Child Protection Policy

Perth and Kinross Sports Council have decided to implement to following Child Protection Policy:
As of this date Perth and Kinross Sports Council will require all affiliated clubs and associations, who have members under the age of 18 years, to have in place or work towards a valid Child Protection Policy. As of 2009/10 onwards only clubs and associations with a  Child Protection Policy will be able to affiliate to Perth and Kinross Sports Council.

What does this mean?

If your club currently has members under the age of 18, or if your club could potentially have members under the age of 18, you must have a Child Protection Policy.

What do I have to do?

  •  Every club should have a child protection co-ordinator.
  •  The club committee must outline a Child Protection Policy and Code of Conduct.
  •  There must be a procedure in place to report and respond to concerns regarding the welfare of a child.
  •  The club must have a disciplinary procedure for managing complaints and concerns.
  •  Recruitment procedures will include a Disclosure Scotland Check.
  •  Child protection training will be offered to all.
