Gymnastics

Gymnastics is one of the key Target Sports for the Sports Development Team and young people who have the potential to compete at a high level are also supported in Perth and Kinross.

The Sports Development Officer responsible for Gymnastics has been working in close partnership with Sport Tayside & Fife and the Perth & Kinross Gymnastics Development Group to implement an effective development plan and to ensure sustainable structures and seamless pathways are in place over the life of the plan.

The main areas of focus of the plan are People Development, Facility Development, Pathways to Performance and Club Development, all of which link into the aims and objectives of Scottish Gymnastics.

Over the past year, Gymnastics has grown significantly within Perth and Kinross with new classes being made available in the Crieff, Blairgowrie and Kinross areas. This has been made possible with partners from Sports Development, Active Schools and CU@Sport working together to meet the demand of this fundamental sport.

There are three Gymnastics Clubs in Perth and Kinross; Perth Gymnastics Club, Auchterarder Gymnastics Club and Aberfeldy Gymnastics Club.  Perth & Kinross Leisure also deliver recreational gymnastics sessions for school children in the area in addition to delivering pre-school gymnastics based activities.
