Consultation and community engagement
What is consultation and community engagement?
Community engagement is the process of involving communities in
the planning, development and management of services. For
some it may be about tackling the problems and issues of a
neighbourhood, such as crime, drug misuse or lack of play
facilities for children. For others it can be about improving
current services.
There are different degrees of engagement ranging from
information sharing and feedback to consultation and active
involvement.
All forms of community engagement need to be a positive,
inclusive and effective experience for all those involved.
The
National Standards for Community Engagement and our
community engagement strategy is a framework used
when engaging with communities or organisations.
What are we doing?
Within Perth and Kinross there is a wide range of
engagement processes already in existence. Some of these
include:
parent councils, community councils,
youth fora, pupil councils,
registered and unregistered tenants organisations. All of
these are about making sure that people can participate in lots of
ways to make Perth and Kinross an even better place to live, work,
study and play.
If you are interested in finding out what is going on in your
area, check with your local community centre or have a look at the
consultation and engagement events.
Community engagement is about changing service delivery and it
is important that you participate and help shape the changes
We also have our citizens panel

views of Council services and other important issues affecting life
in Perth & Kinross. Find out how you can
become involved.
