Education and Childrens Services Inclusion and Equality
"Being Inclusive means taking action to build a fair and
equal society".
Everyone has a responsibility to promote equality and
implement inclusive practices, and to ensure that all legislative
duties are fully implemented without
discrimination.
Being inclusive means thinking and planning to take account of the
circumstances of individuals, groups and communities in relation to
the opportunities they should expect to participate in. This
applies to the universal services as well as services and resources
that may be targeted according to identified need.
This is part of the rationale established in the ECS
Inclusion and Equality Policy Statement [pdf 315KB] which also
promotes the values of:
- Openness, honesty and integrity
- Fairness, understanding and compassion
- Mutual trust, tolerance and respect
Within ECS an Equalities Working Group has been established to
take the Equalities agenda forward.
