Learning: Developing Communities
Our commitment is to support the development of strong
communities in which everyone feels safe, valued, included and able
to play an active part.

All
Education & Children's Services employees must engage with, and
listen to the communities they service so that services are
developed in response to identified local needs. This should
involve regular partnership working with children, young people,
parents/carers, community representatives, police, health and other
key community planning partners.
Promoting a sense of individual and community responsibility, and
by recognising individual strengths and encouraging them to employ
these for the benefit of others in the community, will also be
central to developing responsible and responsive individuals and
communities.
By providing resources suitably targeted to develop skills,
confidence, motivation, relationships and healthy lifestyles, we
can ensure equal access to opportunities and services for all,
improve the quality of life, and support the aspirations of
individuals and communities. A core element of this will be
the provision of well trained employees to facilitate individual
and community development and lifelong learning.
We have developed our
Learning: Developing Communities Policy Statement [pdf 330KB]
and policy documents (which are available from the downloads on
this page) to enhance Learning: Developing Communities
throughout our Service.
