Fuel Poverty Statement
Fuel poverty is the term used when people can't afford to buy
enough fuel to keep their homes warm, and have reasonable hot
water, lighting and working appliances.
Households are considered to be in fuel poverty if energy costs are
more than 10% of the total income. Extreme fuel poverty is where
energy costs more than 20% of the total income of the
household.
The Perth and Kinross Fuel Poverty Statement has been
developed in partnership between the Council, the Community Health
Partnership and SCARF (Save Cash and Reduce Fuel). It sets out how
we will assist fuel poor households in Perth and Kinross to lower
their domestic fuel costs.
