Improved Auchterarder Recycling Centre re-opens
Last updated | 25/04/2008
Auchterarder Recycling Centre was officially reopened today (Thursday 24 April) following major improvement works carried out over the last three months.
The work saw the provision of additional containers for cardboard, timber, scrap metal and inert waste. New access ramps to the containers have also been installed, and improvements to the entrance road and informational signage have been made.
The recycling containers for paper, aluminium and steel food and drink cans, green, clear and brown glass and textiles have been moved outside of the Recycling Centre perimeter fence, which means residents will now have 24-hour access to these facilties.
The official re-opening was carried out by Environment Convener, Councillor Alan Grant, who said: “ The Council would like to thank the members of the public for their patience during this time which allowed the work to be completed as quickly as possible.
“We appreciate the effort many residents take to recycle as much of their waste as possible, so we aim to provide the best facilties we can to help them do this.
“The centres within Perth and Kinross have been open since the 1970’s, and demand is greater now than ever. Over that past three years additional facilties for recycling materials such as plastic bottles, cardboard, aluiminium cans and yellow pages have been introduced to the centres. This latest round of improvements will provide new containers for timber and scrap metal, as well as improvements to road surfaces and signage.”
