Improved Recycling Centres officially reopen
Four of Perth and Kinross Council's Recycling Centres have re-opened to the public following a programme of major improvement works.
Blairgowrie, Aberfeldy, Auchterarder and Kinross Recycling Centres now offer enhanced services to residents following the work.
At all of the Centres additional containers for cardboard, timber, scrap metal and inert waste have been installed.
At Blairgowrie a split level system is now in operation, with containers for inert, timber, garden and general waste being at a dropped level for ease of use.
New access ramps to the containers have also been installed at Aberfeldy, Kinross and Auchterarder, and improvements to informational signage has also been made.
At Aberfeldy the recycling containers for paper, aluminium and steel food and drink cans, green, clear and brown glass and textiles have been moved outside of the Recycling Centre perimeter fence, which means residents will now have 24-hour access to these facilities.
Environment Convener, Councillor Alan Grant, officially re-opened all the improved Centres. He said: "The Council would like to thank the members of the public for their patience during this time which allowed the work to be completed as quickly as possible.
"We appreciate the effort many residents take to recycle as much of their waste as possible, so we aim to provide the best facilities we can to help them do this.
"The centres within Perth and Kinross have been open since the 1970's, and demand is greater now than ever. Over that past three years additional facilities for recycling materials such as plastic bottles, cardboard, aluminium cans and yellow pages have been introduced to the centres. This latest round of improvements will provide new containers for timber and scrap metal, as well as improvements to road surfaces and signage."
