Public meetings on North Perth recycling centre plans

Perth & Kinross Council will shortly be holding two community meetings as part of ongoing public consultation on plans to develop a North Perth Recycling Centre.

The proposed new recycling centre would provide recycling facilities for residents in the north of the city and the surrounding area, and would also help to ease congestion at Perth's current recycling centre at Friarton.

Local people will have the opportunity at public meetings to find out more about the proposal and give their views on the three options for the centre:

Option 1. Develop a North Perth Recycling Centre with opening hours the same as Friarton Recycling Centre and convert the Bankfoot Recycling Centre to a Recycling Point.

Option 2. Develop a North Perth Recycling Centre with opening hours the same as Bankfoot Recycling Centre and convert the Bankfoot Recycling Centre to a Recycling Point.

Option 3. Develop a North Perth Recycling Centre with opening hours the same as Friarton and retain the Bankfoot Recycling Centre with its existing opening hours.

The first meeting will be held on Monday 14 April 2008 at Auchtergaven Primary School, with the second at Perth Grammar School on Thursday 17 April. Both will be open to the public between 5pm and 8pm. Council officers will be present to answer any questions residents may have. Consultation forms will also be available for attendees to fill out with their comments on the proposal.

Consultation forms can also be obtained from Council offices at Pullar House and 2 High Street in Perth, online at www.pkc.gov.uk/northperth or by calling the Customer Service Centre on 01738 476476 to request that a form be posted out. The closing date for responses to the consultation is Friday 16 May 2008.
