T in the Park conditions to be considered at Licensing Committee

Last updated | 24/04/2008

Perth & Kinross Council’s Licensing Committee will consider the majority of conditions for this year’s T in the Park music festival at a special meeting on Thursday 24 April 2008.

The conditions cover all aspects of the event at Balado, near Kinross, from opening hours and facilities for people with disabilities to toilet provision and fire safety arrangements. The report to the Licensing Committee follows in-depth discussions between the Council, festival organisers Big Day Out and partner organisations from the emergency services and environmental and utility bodies.

Earlier this year, the Licensing Committee considered and approved a request from Big Day Out to open the festival campsite early to a limited number of festivalgoers, as part of the organisers’ plans to ensure the smooth running of this year’s event.

Councillors will be asked to agree the conditions which the event organisers must adhere to as part of their current three-year licence for the festival.

Licensing Committee Convener, Councillor Peter Mulheron said: “There has been considerable discussion and consideration of the conditions for this year’s festival in advance of this report coming to Committee. In recent years T in the Park has been a significant event in the Perth and Kinross calendar and it is important that the conditions lay the foundation for a successful, safe and enjoyable weekend.”
