Perth & Kinross Council will this month be highlighting the opportunity for parents to place their children into Gaelic Medium Education in Primary 1 by hosting a series of information days in Perth and Aberfeldy.
Gaelic Medium Education is a free, Council-run education option which gives children the full curriculum experience and the chance to gain the valuable skill of becoming fluent in another language.
There are over 3,000 children currently learning Gaelic in Scotland, mostly from non-Gaelic speaking households.
From August 2012, Gaelic Medium Education will be available at Breadalbane Primary School and Goodlyburn Primary School for children entering P1.
Drop-in sessions will be held this month for parents to find out about the benefits of bilingualism and how to access Gaelic Medium Education.
The information days will be held at the following venues:
- Breadalbane Community Library, Aberfeldy Monday 9th January 9am - 6pm Wednesday 18th January 9am - 6pm
- AK Bell Library, Perth
Saturday 14th January 10am-4pm
- Goodlyburn Primary School, Crieff Road, Perth Tuesday 10th January 9am - 4pm Monday 16th January 9am - 4pm
