Planning permission for conservation areas changes

Anyone living in a conservation area in Perth and Kinross is being advised that, from Monday 6th February 2012, new national rules have come into force that mean most types of alterations and extensions to properties in these areas will need planning permission.

The new regulations cover all extensions, the installation of replacement windows and doors, satellite dishes, rooflights, solar panels, and many other types of work.

Perth and Kinross has 35 conservation areas. These are in: Abernethy, Aberfeldy, Baledgarno, Birnam, Blair Atholl, Blairgowrie, Cleish, Comrie, Coupar Angus, Crieff, Dunkeld, Dunning, Errol, Forgandenny, Fortingall, Fowlis Wester, Grandtully & Strathtay, Inchture, Kenmore, Kinnesswood, Kinross, Kinrossie, Knapp, Longforgan, Meikleour, Moulin, Muthill, Perth Central, Perth Kinnoull, Pitcairngreen, Pitlochry, Rait, Scotlandwell, Spittalfield and Wester Balgedie.

If you are considering making any changes to your property, and think you may be in a conservation area, please contact Perth & Kinross Council's Development Management team on 01738 475300 or email DevelopmentManagement@pkc.gov.uk to check to see if you will need to make an application.
