Reminder of community council nominations for Rannoch and Tummel
Last updated | 06/01/2012
Highland Perthshire residents are reminded that the deadline for nominations to establish a community council in the Rannoch and Tummel area is on Tuesday 10 January 2012.
Nominations opened on Thursday 8 December 2011 but so far no names have been put forward. If no nominations are received, a community council cannot be formed.
Eight members are required for the community council; four for the Kinloch Rannoch sub-area, and two each for the Rannoch West and Strathtummel West sub-areas. Where there are more valid nominations than members required, an election will be held.
Anyone wishing to become a Community Councillor must be 18 years old, live in and be named on the electoral register for the sub-area they are standing for. A prospective candidate’s proposer and seconder must also be named on the electoral register and reside in the same sub-area.
To stand as a candidate, completed nomination forms, together with a supporting statement of 50 words, must be submitted to the Community Council Liaison Officer at 2 High Street, Perth PH1 5PH no later than 5pm on Tuesday 10 January 2012.
Nomination forms and further information regarding the establishment of Community Councils can be downloaded from the Council’s website here, or by contacting the Community Council Liaison Officer at the above address, by calling 01738 475004 or emailing communitycouncils@pkc.gov.uk
