Annual Playday celebration will offer fun for all the family

This year’s free Playday celebration on Perth’s North Inch is set to be a great day out for all generations, with a huge range of activities on offer.
The theme of this year’s event, which is to take place on Wednesday 6 August, is “Give Us a Go” – and will provide plenty of exciting challenges for youngsters.
Lifelong Learning Convener, Councillor Liz Grant, said: “The Playday celebration is all about providing young people – and their parents – with the opportunity to experience good, safe and challenging fun.
“This year’s theme is about children managing their own risk through play. It will be a perfect opportunity for families to have an enjoyable and low-cost day together. There will be something on offer for children of all ages.
“Children will be able to scale a climbing wall, take part in pony rides, various arts and crafts, and enjoy the bouncy castle. There will also be fire jugglers and many, many more activities and attractions.
“There is a lot of concern these days that children are not getting enough exercise and spending too much time in front of the television or the computer screen. Coming along to Playday will give young people an energetic day out and let them take part in activities that they have maybe never experienced before.”
Everyone is welcome to come along on the day - the only stipulation being that all children must be accompanied by an adult. Most of the activities are free.
Playday will run from 11.00am until 3.00pm on Wednesday 6 August, and anyone looking to find out more can contact the Childcare Information Service on 0845 601 4477.
The event has been organised by the Council’s Childcare Strategy Team. Playday is a national event that takes place on the first Wednesday in August every year. Last year's Perth Playday attracted over 1,000 people to the Inch and was an outstanding success.
