Further opportunity to give your views on Perth's air quality
The opportunity to share your views on air quality in Perth has been extended for a further month by Perth & Kinross Council.
Members of the public now have until Friday 29 August 2008 to contribute to a special consultation exercise on the issue, which impacts on everyone who lives in, works in or visits the city regularly.
Although the overall air quality in Perth and Kinross is good, Perth itself has some locations where national air quality levels are not being met or will not be met in the future, mainly due to traffic emissions. Since 2006, Perth has been designated as an Air Quality Management Area (AQMA), and a Draft Air Quality Action Plan has been developed by the Council to identify potential improvements.
Information about the consultation is available on the Council website,
www.pkc.gov.uk , by following the air quality link. Details are also available from all the Council's libraries, or by calling 01738 476476 and asking for a member of the air quality team.
Public comments on the air quality improvement options will help form the final version of the Action Plan, which will in due course be put before the Scottish Government for approval.
Responses to the consultation should be sent, by Friday 29 August 2008, to:
Tom J Brydone, Environmental Health Manager, The Environment Service, Perth & Kinross Council, Pullar House, 35 Kinnoull Street, Perth PH1 5GD. Submissions can also be made online at the Council website.
