New recycling point for central Perth

Recycling for residents in central Perth has become more convenient with the introduction of a new Recycling Point.

The new facility, located at the Victoria Street car park, provides recycling for glass bottles and jars, steel & aluminium food and drinks cans, aerosols, aluminium foil and paper.

Environment Convener, Councillor Alan Grant, said: "In areas such as this, where space is often at a premium for households, with many blocks of flats having only enough room for a few general waste bins, the placing of these easy to reach facilities allows residents to easily recycle glass, cans and paper. These recycling facilities are more often targeted to either rural areas or at large supermarket car parks. It is good therefore to see the introduction of a more urban recycling point that will enable those living in the busy centre of Perth to recycle."

A community information board will also be on site to provide information on how to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle waste along with details of other recycling initiatives.
