Last updated | 28/07/2008
Stonehaven photographer Andy Hall is to visit Perth’s AK Bell Library as part of the First Thursday series of events.
Andy divides his time between primary school teaching, lecturing and photography. He will take a break from his busy schedule to give an illustrated talk about his book, A Sense of Belonging in Scotland, on Thursday 7 August.
The book contains 100 breathtaking images and evocative, personal writing from, among others, Sir Alex Ferguson, Emma Thompson, Marti Pellow, Eddi Reader, Donnie Munro & Ian Rankin. It was described by actor Ewan McGregor as: “The most beautiful collection of pictures of Scotland that I have ever seen”.
Andy will present a slide show of his photos entitled "Armchair Holiday" and will discuss how he compiled the pictures in his book. He will also explore the relationship between Scotland’s people and its landscape.
The event starts at 7.30pm but refreshments will be available from 7pm. Tickets are £4 in person and are also available by phoning the AK Bell Library Shop in advance on 01738 477016.
The evening is the latest in the series of First Thursday events which bring a host of eminent authors, poets and interesting characters to the AK Bell.
The Thursday evening events have already enjoyed three successful seasons. The informal evenings typically involve readings, stories, slide shows or songs from recognised names in the fields of literature and Scottish culture.
