Perth and Kinross pupils were on song recently when they took part in the annual 'Vocalease' singing event.
On 18th and 19th June 2008, more than a thousand children attended Perth Concert Hall for the event, compered by the Council's Expressive Arts Co-ordinator. Four songs relating to 'Caring for the World' were learned in schools beforehand and performed by all the children, led by staff.
The songs were also later performed with band accompaniment from instrumental music teachers. The band played a selection of music as well, where different instruments were demonstrated so pupils could hear the variety of sounds made.
Most schools also performed an item on stage, with the smallest being Glenlyon Primary who sang two Gaelic songs, and the largest being Crieff Primary, who performed 'Jet Plane'.
Lifelong Learning Convener, Councillor Liz Grant said: "Vocalease brings together pupils from schools throughout Perth and Kinross for a really enjoyable two days of music and singing. Every school taking part contributed to the event with their performance and I was particularly pleased that Glenlyon Primary were showcasing their talents in Gaelic singing."
