The JD Fergusson Art Award 2009
Last updated | 04/07/2008
Are you an artist who would like the opportunity to hold your own solo exhibition at a prestigious public gallery?
The J D Fergusson Arts Award Trust is currently looking for submissions for its 2009 Exhibition Award.
The criteria is simple; you must have been born in Scotland or have lived there more than half of your life, not be in full-time education and have not won any major awards to date. Artists of any age, working in any medium are considered. The Trust also takes into consideration the level of commitment artists have shown to their art.
The award will be in the region of £2,500, the exact amount is set later in the year by the Trustees. It is to be used to create works for a solo exhibition to be held in The Fergusson Gallery, along with an accompanying exhibition catalogue.
Applications must be received by 31 October 2008.
The Trust has provided an annual art award since it was established in 1995. The award alternates each year between a travel bursary and money to develop new work for a solo exhibition held at the Fergusson Gallery. The recent travel award winner, stonecarver Gillian Forbes, is currently planning a trip to the Carrara, the famous marble region of Italy.
