Watery wildlife walk beside the River Earn
Nature lovers will have the chance to see the beautiful sights of the River Earn from Crieff to Muthill when Perth and Kinross Council's Ranger Service leads a guided walk on Saturday 26 July 2008.
The walk will follow the river from Stuart Crystal in Crieff and then go through fields and woodlands to Muthill. Countryside Rangers will be on hand to point out a range of interesting flora and fauna that can be seen on this route in summer. Dippers, herons and goosanders are often found on the river, and there will be a chance to see a sand martin colony at first hand.
Departing from the Stuart Crystal car park at 10am, the walk will finish at around 1pm in Muthill. It is planned that participants will catch the bus back from Muthill to Crieff at 1.26pm - anyone taking part should ensure they have enough money to cover the fare, which is around £1.50.
The walk will be about four miles long and mostly on the flat. Waterproofs, walking boots, a snack and drink/ flask are recommended. There may be cattle on the river bank so no dogs are allowed.
Pre-booking for this walk is essential. For more information, or to book your place, please call the Countryside Ranger Service on 01738 475349. Details can also be found at
