Crieff Road to be closed at nights for resurfacing
Last updated | 09/06/2008
Motorists are advised that Crieff Road in Perth will be closed to evening traffic during a two-week period in June so that necessary resurfacing works can be carried out.
The road will be closed between 7pm-7am each day from Sunday 15th June, for a maximum period of two weeks. Traffic will be prohibited on the stretch of Crieff Road between Feus Road to its junction with Newhouse Road.
Pedestrian & vehicular access to premises will be maintained. Residents whose access will be affected by the works have been informed by letter.
An alternative route for traffic will be clearly signposted via Crieff Road – Dunkeld Road – A9 – Crieff Road. Local buses will also be diverted along alternative routes. Stagecoach Perth Services 1, 2, 14 and 15 will be affected by this road closure and information regarding any local bus service diversions will be posted on all relevant buses and bus stops
Enterprise and Infrastructure Convener, Councillor John Kellas, said: “Crieff Road is in need of resurfacing work. Because it is a very busy route we decided not to close the road during the day. The work will instead be carried out during the evening and at night to minimise the disruption caused to motorists. We have carried out similar resurfacing operations at night before very successfully.
“We will of course endeavour to complete the work as soon as possible, and keep disruption to motorists and residents to a minimum. There will inevitably be some disruption and we apologise for that. We would ask the public for their patience during the period that the work is ongoing.”
Some work on drainage on Crieff Road will take place the week beginning Monday 9 June. This will be carried out without road closures and is not expected to cause any disruption to traffic.
