Norwegian engineers visit Perth

Last updated | 09/06/2008

A group of bridge engineers from Norway will be visiting Perth & Kinross Council on Monday 9 June 2008.

The engineers, from the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, are in Scotland to attend a bridges congress in Edinburgh and also wanted to hear the perspective of a Scottish council on the subject of bridge maintenance and management.

They will meet with Council officers from The Environment Service and receive short presentations about bridges in the Perth and Kinross area and how they are managed as important physical assets, as well as discussing how such structures are looked after in Norway.

Later in the day, the delegation will also see how work is progressing on the construction of the new bridge at Kincardine.

Enterprise & Infrastructure Convener, Councillor John Kellas said: "I am delighted we are able to welcome our Norwegian counterparts to Perth and Kinross and share our collective knowledge and experience. We have many examples of historic and significant bridges in the local area and I hope their short visit here will be both useful and interesting."
