Hungary comes to Aberfeldy through community event

Aberfeldy residents who would like to find out more about the Hungarian community who live among them can attend a special free event on Saturday March 27th.
A special day, called A Taste of Hungary, is being planned to showcase the food, music, customs and crafts of their native country. The idea for the event came from the Hungarian group, and although supported by Perth & Kinross’s Community Learning and Development, they, themselves, are doing all the planning and delivery.
Kati Rocsik, who has lived in Aberfeldy for three years said, “Some of us have lived in Aberfeldy for several years now and in that time have received a lot of help and support from residents of Aberfeldy. We would now like to try to give something back to say thank you for all the kindness we have received. We hope to make friends, for example there is a lady I see every day when I go to the Co-op, I would love to know her name so I could say ‘hello’ to her. We would like to get to know our neighbours better. Many people are unaware of our nationality and we would like our fellow Aberfeldy residents to know more about us and where we have come from. We hope to do this with an afternoon’s celebration of Hungarian food, music, pictures and crafts and we hope many people can come. We will be delighted to meet you.”
A Taste of Hungary is being held in the Lesser Hall, part of Aberfeldy Town Hall on March 27th from 2pm to 5pm, with Hungarian food tasting from 3–4pm. The event is free and everyone is welcome to come. For further information please contact Jinty Smart on 01350 727669 or email Jsmart@pkc.gov.uk
