Cardboard Recycling at Local Recycling Points

Last updated | 16/05/2008

Perth & Kinross Council is introducing cardboard recycling facilities at eight local recycling points, providing a further opportunity for residents to recycle more of their household waste.

The cardboard collection containers will initially be provided on a trial basis to assess how popular and well used the facilities will be. If the trial proves successful, the Council will look to provide the service at more of its recycling points in the future.

Cardboard recycling is now available at:
Auchterarder - Crown Inn Wynd
Blairgowrie - Tesco, Welton Road and Croft Lane Recycling Point
Crieff - Strathearn Recreation Centre
Perth - Asda, Dunkeld Road, and Tesco (Edinburgh Road and Crieff Road stores)
Scone - Wheel Inn

Environment Convener, Councillor Alan Grant said: "Perth & Kinross Council continues to be amongst the top recyclers in Scotland, with a current recycling rate of around 40%. This has primarily been achieved due to the support of our residents who take the time to recycle, either at home, work or school as well as at their local Recycling Centres and Points.

"Introducing facilities to recycle more types of materials is an important project for the Council’s waste team. Cardboard is the latest addition to the range of waste that can be recycled, after the recent introduction of facilities for aluminium foil, aerosol cans and food and drink cartons. I hope that this trial will prove both successful and popular and lead on to even more waste being recycled."
