Two guide dogs are to pay a therapeutic visit to a day centre for older people in Perth this week.
Guide Dogs For The Blind are visiting the Rannoch Road Day Centre, for people with dementia, so that clients can interact with dogs Candy and Woody. Such interaction has been found to have positive benefits for people with dementia.
The link between Guide Dogs for the Blind and the Council’s Community Care Service started when council staff from the service raised £5,000 to pay for the full training of a new Puppy. The staff named the dog Cara, and it is now a working with a new owner.
It is hoped the visits can be rolled out across the service to include various client groups.
