Orange Night at AK Bell Library
Last updated | 28/05/2008
AK Bell Library is once again offering local people the chance to vote for Perth’s choice of Orange Book Award as part of the First Thursday series of evening events.
Award winning author Louise Welsh headlines this year’s Orange Night and willing volunteers will present a case for each of the six 2008 shortlisted novels with the audience being asked to vote for their favourite.
Head of Perth and Kinross Libraries Service, Caroline Beaton, will act as a referee to ensure fair play during the debating process.
Tickets for the event on Thursday 5 June cost £6, and include bucks fizz and carrot cake. The fun begins at 7.30pm. Come wearing something orange. Orange Night raffle tickets are available now from all libraries and three sets of the shortlisted books will be won on the night.
July’s First Thursday evening will see local crime author Gillian Galbraith discuss her work. Until recently Gillian was an advocate specialising in medical negligence cases. She will read from her books and discuss her interest in the criminal mind. Tickets cost £4.
