Raising awareness of noise nuisance

Last updated | 19/05/2008

Perth & Kinross Council, in association with Tayside Police and the Mediation Service, is holding an event to raise public awareness of the problem of domestic noise nuisance to coincide with national Noise Action Week (19-23 May).

Staff from the three agencies will be highlighting the impact of noise and promoting the simple solutions that can be taken to prevent problems.

They will be at the St John's Centre, Perth, on Friday 23 May from 9am - 6pm.

Everyone is welcome to come along and chat about any noise problems they might have, or to find out more about the work being done by the Council's Anti-Social Noise Team, Perth and Kinross Community Mediation Service and the Police to combat the problem.

Noise can cause disruption and distress to anyone and national research shows the number of noise complaints is increasing.

Noise Action Week will ask residents to think about a number of things:
* Consider the noise they make and the effect it has on others.
* Consider the noises that disturb them.
* How practical solutions can be used to solve everyday noise problems.
