Rural road surface dressing programme
Last updated | 14/05/2008
Perth and Kinross Council is to carry out a road surface dressing improvement programme on several rural routes in southern Perthshire during May and June.
The process involves spraying a layer of bitumen and covering it with 10mm chips which are then bedded in to create an improved driving surface. This is a quick and cost effective way of prolonging the life of the road for many years, and also makes them easier to maintain.
The projects are:
C417 Rhynd Road (A912 to Sandyknowes). Road closure 30/5/08
U213 Tethyknowes (Broom Farm to Nursery Cottages. Road closure 26/5/08
U76 Rhynd Road to Easter Rhynd Farm. Road closure 2/6/08
U229 Arlary (A91 to B919). Road closure 29/5/08
U226 Fruix (B9097 to Council Housing). Road closure 27/5/08
C458 Tullibardine to Knappilands. Road closure 4/6/08
C457 Kinkell to Strageath. 6/6/08
U214 Waulkmill Road (Seggie X roads to U227). Road closure 28/5/08
U54 Berryden (C412 to Ardargie House) Road closure 3/6/08
All of these schemes will cause some disruption to traffic during working hours, but access will be maintained to properties. There will also be signed diversion routes on the schemes with road closures.
Road closures have been kept to a minimum to minimise disruption, however they are necessary in some instances to ensure the safety of the workforce.
The process is weather dependant and cannot be carried out during rain, therefore the above dates may change according to the weather.
The co-operation of the public in minimising journeys over the lengths affected during the process would be greatly appreciated, and also should the work schedule be affected by the weather.
