Public consultation on St Magdalene's Hill and Buckie Braes Draft Management Plan
Perth & Kinross Council is inviting members of the public to take part in consultation on the draft management plan for St Magdalene's Hill and Buckie Braes, two popular woodland areas in Perth.
The Fair City has a wealth of green space for people to visit and enjoy, with several areas of woodland easily accessible to both residents and visitors. These woodlands contribute a great deal to the quality of life of the residents of Perth, but are also havens for wildlife near the city.
St Magdalene's Hill and Buckie Braes have recently benefitted from improvements to the paths and woodlands making them more accessible for people to visit. Members of the public have contributed to the Council's work to plan and deliver these improvements.
The future management of these sites will be informed and guided by a management plan which the Council has prepared. Again, the plan was developed together with the local community, incorporating views and suggestions from a public meeting held in May 2008. Public consultation is now underway on the draft management plan to identify any further adjustments required.
The draft plan is available to view online at the Council website at
www.pkc.gov.uk/countryside. Copies are also available at Council offices at 2 High Street and Pullar House, 35 Kinnoull Street, Perth. In addition, hard copies are available at the AK Bell Library and during the Soup Lunch at Moncrieffe Church Hall on Tuesday lunchtimes. Anyone wishing to submit comments can pick up a response form from any of these venues, or download it from the Council website. All comments must be submitted, on a response form, no later than Friday 28 November 2008.
Two public events also been arranged to enable the views of as many people as possible to be taken into account during the consultation. Council officers and members of the South Perth Greenspaces Group will be on hand at the events to discuss the plan and take any further comments that you might have. These sessions will be held at:
• Moncreiffe Primary School on Monday 17 November 2008 between 4pm and 8pm; and
• The Cherrybank Inn on Thursday 27 November 2008 between 2pm and 3pm, and between 7pm and 9pm.
Further details of these events can also be found at
