Why is it important?
Confident, active and inclusive communities and a positive cultural environment enhance the quality of life, promote individual and social development and attract interest and investment. Our vision is of an area where cultural provision is integral to our economy, education, health and environment and is fundamental to our community life and responds to the needs and aspirations of the communities themselves.

What influences performance?
We want everyone with a responsibility in community engagement and to have a clear shared vision and plan enabling us to work in partnership for the benefit of all our citizens’ quality of life and well-being. There is a strong demand from all sections of the community for more cultural opportunities. We seek to address identified barriers such as cost and locality of activities and to ensure that programming reflects and responds to the growing informal and contemporary cultural movements to provide opportunity for all.
What is Perth & Kinross Council's role?
Perth and Kinross provides opportunities for citizens to participate in a rich mix of cultural pursuits and events, whether from within the council itself or organisations in the voluntary or private sector. This includes consulting with communities and stakeholders to develop ideas and vision together and supporting links between communities and local cultural events.
