Council Tax - payment methods
Council Tax is payable by instalments from 1st April to 1st January
or in one lump sum on or before the 1st June annually.
There are different ways in which you can pay your
Council Tax, they are as follows:
- Online Payments
- Payments by phone
- Payments by debit or credit card
- Council Tax Payment Card
- Payments by Standing Order
- Payments by post
- Giro Credit Payments
- Direct Debit
Also, you can view the Council's
banking details, which you will need
to quote when using one of the automated
payment services.
Online Payments
You can
pay your Council Tax online using your credit or debit
card.
Payments by phone
You can make a payment by calling our Automated Telephone
Payment number (24 hours, 7 days a week) on
08456030121.
When instructing your bank to make payment by phone
please use the
Council's banking details and
quote your Council Tax/Non Domestic Rates account number including
the financial year.
Debit/credit card
Payments can be made using most debit/credit cards at any of our
local council offices, by telephoning 01738 476000 or by
using our
online payment service.
Council Tax
Payment Card
You can use your payment card to make Council Tax payments at
any of our
local council offices, at any post office or at any
paypoint outlet.
Your payment card should last for a few years. It only needs to be
replaced when you move address or there is a change to the person
responsible for paying the bill. Please make sure that you use your
own card.
If we do not know how you would like to pay, you will
automatically be issued a standing order attached to your
bill. Unlike Direct Debit, you will have to take this form to
your bank. You will receive a new standing order to take to
your bank each time a new bill is issued.
When instructing your bank to make payment by Standing Order
please use the Council's banking
details and quote your Council Tax/Non Domestic Rates
account number including the financial year.
Payments by post
Cheques and postal orders should be crossed A/C Payee Only and
made payable to Perth & Kinross Council. You should give
details of your Council Tax/Non Domestic Rates account number and
address on the back.

Bank Giro Credit
Some of our bills, reminders etc will have a tear off payment
voucher attached. This voucher can be used at any of our
local offices or in any bank or building society.
Direct Debit
If you use Direct Debit you can choose when to
pay:-
- Monthly - on 1st or 15th (10 months)
- Fortnightly - on a Friday (21 instalments)
- Weekly - on a Friday (42 instalments)
You now have the choice of extending your
payments through to March:-
- Monthly - on 1st or 15th (12 months)
- Fortnightly - on a Friday (26 instalments)
- Weekly - on a Friday (52 instalments)
If you pay monthly but do not use Direct Debit you will have to
pay your instalments by the 1st of each month starting April and
ending in January.
Other advantages of paying a Direct Debit
- Direct Debit is efficient and
reliable
- You save time and money as you do not have to travel to pay or
send your payments
- We arrange all your payments
- You are less likely to receive recovery notices for late
payment
- Your rights under the Direct Debit scheme are guaranteed
- It helps to keep down the Council's collection costs
How to change to Direct Debit
Set up your Direct Debit over the phone by calling an
advisor on (01738) 476000 or emailing localtaxes@pkc.gov.uk. Alternatively,
you can fill in the
Direct Debit form [PDF: 91Kb],
remembering to tick the payment plan which suits you best and send
it back.

Perth and
Kinross Council's Banking Details
When instructing your bank to make payment by Bankers Order or
through Automated Banking Services please use the Councils Banking
details as shown below:
