Perth & Kinross Council is run by 41 councillors who are elected by the residents they represent.
Perth and Kinross has 12 wards, each with three or four local councillors. Previously we had 41 wards, each with one councillor. The changes have been brought about by the Local Governance (Scotland) Act 2004.
The Administration of the Council is formed from the SNP and Liberal Democrat groups (in total 26 seats). The Provost (Convener of the Council) is Councillor John Hulbert (SNP) and the Provost Depute (Depute Convener of the Council) is Councillor Willie Wilson (Lib Dem) The Leader of the Council is Councillor Ian Miller, Leader of the SNP group.
The Depute Leader of the Administration is Councillor George Hayton, Leader of the Liberal Democrats Group.
