Biography

Councillor Ian Miller was first elected to Perth and Kinross District Council in May 1995 as the SNP Councillor for Alyth and held the post of Convener of Development Control Committee for 4 years. He was re-elected to serve the area in 1999 and again in 2003. He was elected as SNP group leader in 1999. In 2004 he became Depute Leader of the Council and Vice Convener of the SP&R Committee. Following the election in May 2007 Councillor Miller was elected as one of the 4 Councillors in the new Multi Member Ward of Strathmore taking in the area from Alyth to Scone. He became Leader of the Council in May 2007 and is also Chair of the Community Planning Partnership.

He is married to Angela and they have a grown up son and daughter. He has lived in the Perthshire area all his life.
