Methods of voting
There are a range of ways you can cast your vote:
- In person at a polling place
- By post
- By proxy
Voting in person
The majority of people vote in person at a polling place. You
don't need to bring your polling card with you to vote in person.
Polling places throughout Perth and Kinross will be open on
polling day from 7am to 10pm. When you arrive you will be asked to
confirm your name and address, and then you will be given your
ballot paper.
Find your
nearest polling place for the Scottish Parliamentary
Election.
If you've never voted in person before, why not visit the Electoral
Commission's 'virtual polling place' at http://www.aboutmyvote.co.uk
to see how straightforward it is.
Voting by post
Postal voting is available to anyone, whatever the
circumstances. You can apply for a postal vote for a
particular election for a set period of time, or for a permanent
postal vote. Postal voting means that you can vote at
home. Your ballot paper is sent to your home
address. Once completed you return your vote by post to the address
provided.
To apply to vote by post, please contact the local registration
office at Robertson House, Whitefriars Crescent, Perth PH2 0LG. You
can also call them on: 01738 630303 or email perth@tayside-vjb.gov.uk
Voting by proxy
Proxy voting is available to people who cannot attend their
polling place because they will be away from home on polling
day; suffer from a physical disability; they have work
commitments such as those in the armed forces or are studying
away from home. Proxy voting means that you ask someone to act
on your behalf. Anyone can act as your proxy as long as they are
eligible to vote in the election and they are willing to do so on
your behalf. You must apply to vote by proxy.
Voters with a disability
Everyone has the the same right to register and vote. Polling
places must be wheelchair accessible. Some voters with a disability
may wish to apply for a postal vote to allow them to vote from
home. It may also be possible to get help filling in a postal
vote.
Tactile voting templates and large print versions of ballot papers
are available at all polling places. You can take someone with
you to assist you or ask the presiding officer at the polling
place for help.

Commission's website. Alternatively contact Perth &
