Purpose
The remit of the Committee is to determine the Council's policy
in relation to Building Standards. exercise the functions of the
Council, in partnership with other agencies, in relation to access
to the countryside; to exercise the functions of the Council in
relation to structure and local planning; to exercise the functions
of the Council, in partnership with other agencies, for land use
planning; to exercise the functions of the Council in relation to
economic development; to develop measures to support and promote
economic activity in the Council's area; to determine the Council's
economic development policy in relation to control and management
of Perth Harbour; to exercise the functions of the Council in
relation to harbours, piers, boatslips and jetties; to consider
European Union affairs affecting Perth and Kinross; to oversee
applications for the co-ordination and monitoring of funding from
European programmes; to consider international links and liaison on
economic twinning arrangements; to exercise the functions of the
Council with regard to public transport and concessionary travel;
to exercise the functions of the Council as Roads Authority; to
exercise the functions of the Council in relation to the naming and
numbering of streets; to work in partnership with VisitScotland and
other agencies to plan and promote tourism and tourism development
in Perth and Kinross; to exercise the functions of the Council in
terms of flood prevention and reservoirs.
