Lifelong Learning Committee

Purpose
The remit of the Committee is to exercise the functions of the
Council as Education Authority; to determine and implement the
Council's policy in relation to Early Years Services and inter into
partnerships on behalf of the Council to ensure the provision of
quality Early Years Services; To exercise the functions of the
Council as Social Work Authority in relation to child care in terms
of the relevant legislation; to determine and implement the
Council's policy in relation to Community Learning and Development;
to provide, maintain and develop the provision of sports and
leisure facilities and maximise community use of these; monitor the
provision of all Live Active Leisure facilities; to determine and
implement the Council's policy in relation to Arts and Cultural
Services and provide, maintain and develop museums, galleries and
related facilities to provide, maintain and develop a comprehensive
Library Service, including the Schools Library Service; provide,
maintain and develop a comprehensive Archive Service for Perth and
Kinross.

The Committee also consists of 3 church representatives, 2
teachers employed in schools under the management of the Council
and 2 parent representatives, one from Primary Parent
Councils and one from the Secondary Parent Councils.
