Background Info on Regeneration Areas
Background information on the geographical areas featured in the Regeneration Outcome Agreement Fairfield Fairfield is situated in North Perth. It has a population of 793 contained in one datazone which is within the15% most deprived in Scotland according to SIMD06.
Muirton
Muirton is also situated in North Perth. According to statistics, it has 1,220 residents bound within two datazones, both of which are within the 10% most deprived in Scotland according to SIMD06. However, the population of Muirton is fluctuating at present as a result of the decanting process which is taking place while the area is being physically rebuilt and regenerated.
RattrayRattray is comprised of 'Old Rattray' and 'New Rattray', and sits across the river Ericht, near Blairgowrie in Eastern Perthshire. It is New Rattray that is targeted with CRF and partner resources to address the issues of deprivation within it. The natural community of New Rattray is made up of 2½ datazones containing 1674 residents, within the 10% most deprived in Scotland according to SIMD06.
Letham/Hillyland
The area of Letham/Hillyland, with a total population of 9871, is defined by 14 data zones, 2 of which are within the 15% most deprived in Scotland. It is also situated in North Perth. Letham/Hillyland is widely recognised as an area of emerging deprivation, and in order to arrest any further decline, it was considered imperative that Letham/Hillyland should be earmarked as a recipient area of any regeneration programme. This area is largely being targeted by Perth and Kinross Council?s Area Based Initiative Budget as opposed to Community Regeneration Fund monies.
Issues in the regeneration areasFor more information on the issues in the regeneration, there is a summary of the responses of local residnets during an initial consultation in the summer of 2005.
